( vote)This is a topic has sparked off a considerable debate over the years. In the post-credit scene of the recent Justice League movie, the Flash raced Superman, but there was no evidence of who won, unfortunately, because the movie ended on that note — which begs the questions, “Who won the race?”, “Who is the fastest”? It’s easy to get emotional and lean towards one side of the argument or the other, especially if you are a fanboy of either one. With that being said, let’s look at the fact that surround these fictitious superheroes.
Flash vs Superman Who Is The Fastest?
Before dwelling on Flash vs Superman Who Is The Fastest? Let’s look at some teases in the Justice League movie. In one of the scene where the Flash ran to save the Justice League as they were being held up by Superman. The fact that Superman could see The Flash moving pass him, goes a long way to say that Superman has got Speed. In another scene where The Flash threw his infinite mass punch at Superman while they were fighting each other, Superman turns his head and avoided getting hit by the punch (“from one of the fastest man alive”). What does that tell you?
We are looking at two men with the ability to move at the speed of light. The Flash has the ability to tap into the speed force making him go past the speed of light. On the other hand, Superman is pretty darn fast too, he can move at 2000 miles per second, however, he’s never shown to move at light-speed while running. Furthermore, Superman can break the speed of light in outer space, he cannot do so on Earth, at least not without causing all sorts of environmental mayhem in the process. This piece of data was extracted from the analysis of comic scenes and their respective dialogues where Superman was racing Flash.
Superman
A very important takeaway is that Superman, in fact, can very well move just as fast as Flash. It’s just that he chooses not to in order to protect the environment, since doing so would cause irreversible damage to it.
Looking at the situations when Superman found himself in the outer space, it’s a completely different story when it comes to his movement speed. For example, he was able to travel from Pluto to Earth in just a couple of minutes, easily achieving a speed faster than light. The technical details of him doing so, however, have never been disclosed. Perhaps he was able to do this by warping space around him? We’ll probably never know.
So what’s the top Speed that Superman can reach? The fans estimate it’s somewhere between 16 to 20 times the speed of light.
The Flash
Now let’s look at Flash. He can move at the speed of light without causing any environmental damage to Earth because of his powers. In a pure running competition, Flash would probably be able to outrun Superman with ease, since Superman is not really accustomed to running in the first place. Although Superman might not be able to run as fast, his moving speed is something else entirely.
Flash can run so fast that he can easily travel through time. In certain cases, he’s even able to go faster than the speed of light, it’s just that we don’t know how fast. The writers themselves don’t really like to give away too much, so certain things are inevitably left to our imagination and interpretation — making it a fun debate every time.
Another argument that speaks in Flash’s favor is that the Earth unanimously voted for Flash to represent the planet in the race, choosing him over Superman. This was probably not without a solid reason.
Final Thought
So what’s the final verdict? The question remains unresolved since most of the comic scenes shows the race as a tie. Do you agree with this? Share your thoughts with us in the comment section below this article.
