( vote)Epic Games Transforms Fortnite With Season 10 Details. As of August 2019, Epic Games announced their newest content batch for Fortnite Season 10 aka Season X. The v10 patch notes cover details like Fortnite skins, a new map, and other details.
Fortnite is a global sensation the likes of which the gaming industry has never seen. This free to play third-person shooter by Epic Games garnered a whopping $8 billion in profits last year and does not look to be slowing anytime soon. Keeping things fresh, Epic Games keeps player interest in their game with tons of new content in updates that they call “Seasons”. So if you’re ready to take the plunge, let’s take a look at the new content and what Fortnite’s competitive scene has done and will do in the future!
Epic Games Transforms Fortnite With Season 10 Details
Fortnite’s popularity has only grown in the esports community as of late. Recently, Fortnite held a ‘community-wide’ solo championship tournament called the Fortnite World Cup. Players from all over battled on Fortnite’s online leaderboard for weeks

Once the field was narrowed down, finalists took their talents to New York City to battle it out for the title in multiple fields. A total of $30 million dollars were distributed to the field with participants earning $50,000 just for qualifying. The solo winner, a 16-year-old going by the online name “Bugha”, took home a whopping $3 million.
This tournament was just a fraction of Epic Games’ promised investment of $100 million in prizes total for 2019. Fortnite Season X promises to take things even further with new ‘competitive’ content as well.
What Are Fortnite Seasons?
Before we detail what is in Fortnite Season X, it is important to understand what a ‘season’ is in Fortnite. Epic Games has developed a surefire formula similar to Overwatch where limited time events contain a host of time exclusive content. These seasons change the Battle Royale map with things like portals, asteroids, and more changing how the map looks as the season moves along.
As players play, earn wins, and earn season exclusive ‘experience’, they acquire outfits, dance moves, and weapon and gear skins. All of this content are bragging points showing others their skill level or dedication to the game just like Tom Clancy’s The Division 2
.
Each season has a battle pass (or a paid subscription to the game with the real world or in-game money) where a decent chunk of the content can be purchased outright. Still, a lot of the best content is earned rather than purchased.
What’s New For Fortnite Season X (aka Season 10)?
Each Fortnite season is tied to an update patch. For a total list of the patch changes, go and check out the official Fortnite patch v10 notes.
– B.R.U.T.E. Two Person Mech Suit
This new vehicle is causing all kinds of overpowered chaos on the battlefield. With one person driving and the other person shooting the missile launchers and shotguns on the mech, many are already talking about how unbalanced this makes gameplay. Nonetheless, players will race to the indicated randomized areas on the map where the suits are located.
Here is the description straight from the Fortnite v10 patch notes:
- This vehicle can be operated by up to two players. If two players are operating it, one (the driver) controls movement, while the other (the gunner) rains down missiles and shotgun shots.
- The driver is able to:
- Dash into combat.
- Super Jump to victory.
- Stomp enemies and structures into the ground.
- Anything you would normally harvest will grant materials when destroyed.
- The passenger has two weapons at their disposal: a shotgun and a missile launcher.
- Shotgun
- Clip Size: 10
- Damage: 50
- Headshot Multiplier: 1.5x
- Shotgun
- Missile Launcher
- Fires up to 10 missiles at once.
- Holding down Trigger will begin loading missiles.
- After releasing Trigger, or after 10 missiles have been loaded, all missiles will automatically fire.
- New Mechanic: Overshield
- Consumes 200 of any Material type to create a personal overshield for 5 seconds to protect you in the mech.
– Vaulted weapons
Sometimes weapons in the game are ‘vaulted’ so that Epic Games can further balance the game. This season, these listed weapons were vaulted or removed from the game:
- Baller
- Quad Crasher
- Flint Knock Pistol
- Shadow Bomb
- Semi-Auto Sniper
- Tactical Assault Rifle
- Mounted Turret
- Air Strike
- Itemized Glider Redeploy
– Battle Pass Missions
Since time travel is a part of this season’s theme, acquiring the Battle Pass will unlock a number of achievable objectives (called missions) that have many of the previous season’s themes. Unlock them and get roughly 100 new rewards.
– Gift Battle Pass To A Friend
For a limited time (until August 15th), you can gift a Battle Pass to a friend.
– Skins and customization
As usual, this season brings about the opportunity to get a number of skins. Some of these are available through the battle pass.
– Fortnite Championship Series
Starting August 15th and progressing for 5 weeks, Fortnite will be holding an in-game tournament. There will be online in-game leaderboards where you can check your progress within your region. This tournament will be a team-based competition called Trios. Once the regional winners are determined, September 20th – 22nd will feature these winners to determine the Season X Championship
There will also be smaller championship tournaments. On Wednesdays and Thursdays starting August 21st, there will be single-day tournaments called Cash Cups.
– Fortnite Spotlight
With the new Fortnite Spotlight, your favorite creative Fortnite content creators, Fortnite YouTubers, and so forth will be allowed to hold their own tournaments!
There isn’t a whole lot of info on how this will work but I’m certain Epic Games will be working things out with their favorite and the most popular creative Fortnite content creators from all over!
– Save The World Content
For those of you who’ve paid for the “story mode” of Fortnite called Save The World, there is also additional content as well. There is a new mission called Hit The Road that includes new rewards and content as well. Check out the Fortnite v10 patch notes for more!
