Avengers Endgame is finally here to answer the tons of questions that Avengers: Infinity War left only a year ago. Rarely has a sequel left it’s fan base dumbfounded and shocked as was done with Infinity War, and Endgame steps up to the plate to answer them all.

As the swan song for the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU)’s ‘Phase Three’ of cinematic content, Avengers Endgame is a dramatic and tearful sendoff for the Avengers’ original team. Whether you’re a movie fan or a comic book fan, it is clear that the MCU and Avengers: Endgame is in a class of its own.

Avengers Endgame – A blockbuster

Making memorable moments are key for a blockbuster film of any sort. The mere existence of Marvel’s Cinematic Universe is a gift for the intensely passionate geeks and comic book fans around the world. Marvel has struck an amazing chord of excellence with almost 2 dozen films that breathed life into a wealth of beloved characters.

As Avengers: Endgame unveils its plot, scenes as well as plot threads from almost every previous movie are touched upon. As if the Russo Brothers were weaving a quilt, die hard fans of the MCU will pick up on little jokes, nods, easter eggs, and the like all throughout the movie.

What makes Avengers Endgame different?

What makes Endgame different, though, is the attention it gives to the emotional attachment that the viewer as well as the characters have with each other.

Infinity War was a gut punch, and Endgame is the time you need to recover and counter punch.

Rarely has sitting through a three hour movie felt so satisfying as you can almost map out the plan for each hour’s purpose. The first hour is the emotional fallout for all of the heroes that survived Infinity War.

The second hour is the glimmer of hope that is the plan that Doctor Strange apparently put into motion at some point in Infinity War.

The third hour is the triumphant battle that places a gorgeous bow upon a 10 year plan of connected movies unlike ANY ever seen in the history of Hollywood. Not even Star Wars or DC’s Superman Vs Batman can boast of the immense success that Marvel has in this decade.

The Greatest Ensemble Cast

Avengers all cast

Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans anchor one of the greatest ensemble casts ever assembled including the likes of Marisa Tomei, Don Cheadle, Bradley Cooper, Chadwick Boseman, Tessa Thompson, Michael Douglas, Hiroyuki Sanada, Josh Brolin, and many more.

The two take their characters through heart wrenching scenes of grief, timely quips of comedic relief, and satisfying bouts of comic book drenched action. All the while, Scarlett Johannson and Jeremy Renner do the same as if they were pulling their own movie within Downey and Evans’.

Hemsworth dives deeper into his bag of comedy tricks in order to continue the success of the previous Thor movie and Rudd does as well.

The list of performances goes on and on as almost every minute of cameos has significance and weight to the story’s progression. While time travel is a part of the resolution, the conflict and difficulty it presents delivers even if the path is a bit predictable.

Thanos

I must admit, even though i am Pro Marvel Super Heroes, Thanos is only Marvel Villain that have caught my interest over the years. His persona is indeed likable. Yes, he may appear to have died in Endgame, but i believe he is coming back — as Thanos is immortal.

Final thoughts

Avengers Endgame not only delivers on its promise of finishing the story of the ‘original’ Avengers brought together back in 2012, it sets the stage for Phase 4 and the continuation of Marvel’s cinematic dominance. WOW!
